Do you treat patients with dental anxiety, and what sedation options are there?

For patients who need extra help managing anxiety, Fresh Dental provides several sedation options for procedures like tooth extractions, including:

  • Local Anesthesia: Numbs the area to block pain while allowing you to stay fully awake. Suitable for mild anxiety and simpler procedures.
  • Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas): Inhaled through a mask to create a light, calming effect. It works quickly, is adjustable during treatment, and wears off fast, allowing you to drive yourself home. Ideal for moderate anxiety.
  • Oral Sedation: A prescribed medication taken before the appointment to induce drowsiness and deep relaxation. You remain awake but may have little memory of the procedure. Someone will need to drive you home. Good for significant anxiety or more complex treatments.
  • IV Sedation: Administered intravenously for precise sedation control, often used for surgical or impacted extractions. Patients enter a deeply relaxed twilight state with vital signs monitored for safety.
