Navigating Dental Care During This Challenging Time

Hi Fresh Dental community, we hope you’re all staying healthy!

We felt the need to change up our blog post this month to focus on the health crisis we are all going through together.

We know that your lives and routines have likely been disrupted lately. Staying inside more, social distancing, and monitoring the changing news can leave you feeling overwhelmed and cause you to break from your usual healthy habits. (Hey, we get that it can be difficult to motivate yourself to brush in the morning when your office is your home, pajamas are your new work uniform and you aren’t getting within 10 feet of anyone any time soon!).

The truth is, right now healthy habits of all kinds are more important than ever. So, we wanted to share with you the latest information and guidance we have on our area of healthy habit expertise – taking care of your mouth.

And if you, like us, are looking for a reason to *smile* right now, we’ve also rounded up a few things to lift your spirits below.

From all of us at Fresh Dental, Stay safe, socially distant and healthy!

THE MOUTHFUL

Professional care: At this time, the ADA is recommending all dentists close their offices to all but emergency care and as a result, you may need to reschedule your current dental care appointments. If you do go to the dentist, we recommend visiting the ADA’s MouthHealthy.org/virus to find up-to-date information about COVID-19 and how it may impact your dental care visit, and what precautions to take.

Personal care: Given that a regular dental check-up may not be possible for you in the near term, it is especially important to maintain your daily preventative brushing and flossing routine.

And if you are unwell, here are some extra tips: This may seem obvious, but don’t share your toothbrush with anyone If you are fighting off a cough, choose sugar-free cough drops. Some medications can cause dry mouth, so drink lots of water Maintain a balanced diet that limits sugary beverages and snacks Do the basics: brush twice daily with fluoride paste, and floss!
